The poll found:

- Seventy-three percent of people surveyed believe corruption is common among people in elected office.

- Sixty-five percent believe elected office-holders look out for their own interests more than they work for the public’s interests.

- Sixty-seven percent believe corruption among public officials in North Carolina is becoming more common. Read more

Happy Thanksgiving

Today, we recall President George Washington, who proclaimed our first national day of public thanksgiving to be observed “by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God.”

In addition, we honor President Abraham Lincoln, who officially established our annual Thanksgiving Day to help bring together a divided nation in the midst of a bloody civil war.

Two great leaders putting their lives and policies on the line for our freedom, declaring one homegrown Holiday. A day to pause and give thanks to the Almighty God responsible for our victories and U.S. sovereignty against all odds.

As we recount our blessings as a family, remember to give thanks to our troops who relentlessly continue to fight for our freedoms and that they will soon come home safe and victorious.

WakeUpAmerica.com Asks NC Tax Reform Panel To Study “Fair Tax.”

"With 9.8% unemployment, The time has finally come for NC to have a pro-economic growth tax system"

(Raleigh, NC) – On November 3rd a joint NC House and NC Senate Finance Committee meeting will discuss reforming the NC tax code. Thank goodness.

With state unemployment rates languishing near 10% for months, Federal stimulus leading to no private sector job growth, and Governor Perdue with only a 24% approval rating, the time has come to bury North Carolina’s outdated tax code with a new structure based on incentive-based growth, according to the NC-based conservative group WakeUpAmerica.com.

“A state legislative commission will meet in November to study a new approach to the state’s tax system and in that there is hope that this won’t be a grab at more tax money – but instead a discussion of a way to simplify a complex tax code and structure taxes in a way that incentivizes economic activity instead of discouraging it,” said WakeUpAmerica.com co-director Bryan Holloway – who is also a State Representative from King, NC.

“Why can’t North Carolina lead the nation in demonstrating a simpler, fairer way of taxation while at the same time unleashing the kind of dynamic economic growth in our state that will create the jobs we desperately need,” Holloway continued.

WakeUpAmerica.com supports the general principles surrounding the “Fair Tax” and would ask state leaders and economists to study a revolutionary “Fair Tax Plan for North Carolina.”

“Why can’t North Carolina be the first to unleash what is great about America and put billions of dollars into our economy and create the jobs our failed tax system has failed to?” asked Holloway.

National Fair Tax proposals favor a sales tax on new items which everyone, including illegals, or who currently circumvent taxes would have to pay. No special breaks for one group over another or for companies who can pay for expensive lobbyists, because everyone would be treated the same.

According to FairTax.org, leaders such as “Nobel Prize winning economist Dr. Vernon L. Smith have called upon Congress to pass the Fair Tax. Alan Greenspan says it "could certainly meet the fundamental criteria of being simple, fair, and pro-growth."

Retired Federal Reserve Bank Board of Governors Member Wayne Angell says, "the economic benefits of the Fair Tax Plan are compelling. The Fair Tax Plan eliminates the tax bias against work, saving, and investment, which would lead to higher rates of economic growth, faster growth in productivity, more jobs, lower interest rates, and a higher standard of living for the American people."

“It would be an injustice for the commission studying tax reform in North Carolina not to give full consideration to taking the bold, job-creating measures we need to kick our economy into high gear,” Holloway concluded.

NEW POLLS GIVE HOPE THAT AMERICA IS WAKING UP TO OBAMA’S CHANGE!

In the latest polling from USA Today/Gallup, 54% of Americans now say that Barack Obama’s policies are either liberal or very liberal. That number is up from 43% in November of 2008. USA Today/Gallup and Rasmussen polling is painting a picture of an America that is waking up to the realization that Obama's policies are not the Change for which they had Hoped.

President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and all the other left-wing wannabe socialists in D.C. have told us time and again that Health Care, and the socialization thereof, is the number one issue in America. Problem is you don’t agree. Not even close.

In November of 2008, 64% of you said, “It’s the economy stupid.” A mere 5% of you went to the polls in 2008 to cast your vote for “Hope and Change” in regards to Health Care. Today, despite all the infomercials and Mr. Obama’s Network Tour-de-farce on national television (for which he’s probably been nominated for an Emmy) only 17% of you believe Health Care is the top issue. 41% of Americans say, “It’s the economy stupid”, and 18% of you say it’s Afghanistan. Afghanistan didn’t register in the polls back in November of 2008. Iraq, and the war there, was seen as the top issue by 11% of you.

Remember Iraq. Remember the war there? Remember Obama’s promise of Hope and Change in Iraq.

66% of you ran to the polls in November of 2008 believing it all lock stock and barrel. Today, 56% of you still think Obama will bring the troops home safely from Iraq, and do it in a “way that is not harmful to the U.S.”.

When do you people learn?

It was actually candidate Obama who told us that Iraq was an unnecessary war, that it was Afghanistan which truly mattered. Back on election day, 58% of you thought a "President Obama" would bring our troops home from Afghanistan in a “way that is not harmful to the U.S.”.

You do remember Afghanistan, right Mr. President? It's that little war you told us was far more important than was that big war in Iraq when you wanted our vote?

In fact, Obama promised to step it up in Afghanistan and to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice immediately. That was back in July of 2008.

Let’s not forget the doings over in Congress. Democrats control everything. That’s what you decided would best benefit our children's futures back in 2008 because you were mad at mean old George W. Bush. How do you think YOUR Congress is faring today?

According to a daily tracking poll from Rasmussen, 15% of you think that Congress is doing “a great or excellent job”. Seriously, 15%! Where do the pollsters even find these lunatics?

53% rate Congress as doing a “poor” job. To say that Congress is doing a poor job is like saying the Titanic hit an ice cube.

Rasmussen also takes a look at the numbers for Obama by party.

Shockingly Dems approve, Republicans don’t. Here’s the really important number; among Independents or those that claim no party affiliation, 43% approve of Obama, and 57% disapprove of Obama’s performance as president.

Rasmussen also looked at Health Care specifically. Remember, that the issue that Obama, et al, keep telling you is the most important single issue in the history of the Universe.

Scott Rasmussen writes in the Wall Street Journal:

“There’s also the reality that 74% of voters rate the quality of care they now receive as good or excellent. And 50% fear that if Congress passes health-care reform, it will lead to a decline in the quality of that care.”

Why The Fuss! After all, the U.S. Government has done such a great job with distributing the H1N1 Vaccine, and the Post Office is awesome if you like long lines and surly attitudes, let’s not forget the outstanding work of the V.A. Hospitals. Seniors say Medicare is to die for.

Anita Dunn Says Fox News Is GOP Wing



The White House communications director, Anita Dunn, said FOX News is a “wing of the Republican Party…let’s not pretend they’re a news network.” To draw attention to its biased coverage, President Obama will not be scheduled to appear on FOX for the rest of this year.

This is the same person who in a recent speech to graduates said that said she “praises” Mao Zedong, one of the most prominent Communist theoreticians and mass murderer to this day.

In another grassroots effort to rally her position, the organizers of MoveOn.org sent out a blast email letter to its members with a link to electronically sign a petition in support of Obama’s decision to stay off Fox News as long as he does.

The petition says:
Democrats should support President Obama’s effort to call out FOX. Please stay off FOX for as long as he does.”

Democrats often appear on FOX in hopes of reaching out to conservative viewers. But FOX cuts off their mic, distorts what they say, or runs biased headlines at the bottom of the screen. In the end, Democrats always lose on FOX.

FOX insists there’s a difference between its news shows and its right-wing opinion shows with Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and others.

But in August, FOX’s so-called news shows “aired 22 clips of town hall meeting attendees opposed” to Obama’s health care plans and zero in support. CNN and MSNBC were more fair and balanced.

In another “news” story, FOX passed off a GOP press release as its own research—typo and all.

FOX executives now describe the channel as “the voice of opposition” to Obama’s agenda. FOX president Roger Ailes—a former adviser to Nixon, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush—said, “I see this as the Alamo.”

But a Capitol Hill newspaper reports, “In the House and Senate, Democrats who pledged to follow the administration’s near-boycott of Fox were hard to find, although many expressed support for Obama’s stance.”

Democrats will only find the courage to join Obama if they hear from enough concerned voters.
